A dominant first half display from Ireland set up a 34-10 bonus-point victory over Wales in Cardiff. Ireland started strongly and scored two tries through Caelan Doris and James Ryan inside the first 10 minutes. Dan Biggar and Johnny Sexton then traded penalty kicks before James Lowe scored a third Ireland try when he intercepted a Wales pass. Sexton added a second penalty kick to give Ireland a commanding 27-3 lead at the break. The home side responded early in the second half with a try from Liam Williams. Wales continued to press but failed to convert a number of opportunities as they were frustrated by Ireland's defence. Try-scorer Williams was sent to the sin bin for a high tackle on Sexton going into the final quarter.
