Italy v Wales Match Reports

Italy beat Wales 22-15 in Rome and consigned their visitors to a 14th straight Test defeat. Heavy rain made for slippery conditions at Stadio Olimpico, and it was the home side that seemed to cope better. Ange Capuozzo scored the only try of the first half and Tommaso Allan's kicking put Italy into a 16-3 halftime lead. After a faultless display of kicking in the first half, Italy missed three penalty kicks to pull away early in the second half. Wales lost Josh Adams just before the hour mark after he was sin-binned for a head-on-head collision. Allan slotted the resulting penalty to extend Italy's lead heading into the final quarter. Aaron Wainwright scored a try from a rolling maul in the 69th minute, but the conversion was missed and Wales still trailed by 11-points. Allan then kicked a fifth penalty in the 74th minute to snuff out any realsitic hopes of a Wales comeback. Wales pushed for a second score and were eventually awarded a penalty try after repeated infringements from Italy. But it was too little too late from Wales, leaving Italy to celebrate a well-deserved victory. A selection of match reports is listed below:
